Physics Photo Contest Results

There are many phenomenons on Earth, but they all needed a proof, in order to prove, photograph them is a way to capture all the evidences.

To begin with, I would like to say thank you to ZIS, especially Mr. Gurkan who have introduced us too many International competitions, such as I-SWEEEP, INESPO, GENIUS OLYMPIAD, and recently an International Physics Photo Contest by AAPT. Through this, students may have a chance to show their different talents and reflect it to the world for a real achievement.

Let me go a bit deeper into what does AAPT mean. AAPT is theabbreviation for American Association of Physics Teachers. AAPT organizes a photo contest that provided teachers and students an opportunity to learn about the physics behind natural and contrived situations by creating visual and written illustrations of various physical concepts. This contest is open to high school students in grades 9-12 (or equivalent international grade level). Photos may be entered in two categories, Natural Photos and Contrived Photos. All the photos will be judged by the quality of the photo and the accuracy of the physics in the explanation that accompanies the photograph.

As a process of entering this contest, Mr. Gurkan, Mr. Davut, Mr. Enis and Mr. Mustafa, our physics teachers, had organized a photo contest in our school in order to choose the first 15 interesting photos. The top three winners from the contest are MuyHoung Lim from 12-E, Sevval Nur Kokten from 8-E, Kimhuong Ea from 7-E respectively and Mengheng Lim from 12A received an Honorable Mention. Zaman International School also arranged prizes for the winners, student who won the 1st place received $40 gift and a certificate, 2nd place received $30 gift and a certificate and 3rd place received $20 and a certificate. Their photos will be sent to AAPT High School Physics Photo Competition afterward. So let’s wait and see their result together.

The winners’ photos are not on this page now as they will compete at the international stage. After the results announced the photos will be published.
