The Mission

The mission is to design a Water Rocket Car capable of reaching the longest distance possible given the specific launch criteria. The Water Rocket Car serves to familiarize students with the basic principles of rocketry, design engineering, and manufacturing engineering. Students will design and manufacture a water rocket car using a bottle as the pressure vessel.

Entrants must also construct their own launcher.

Rules

  • Build a car that will move when a rocket is launched. (The rocket must be part of the car and move with the car.)
  • A rocket car may contain multiple bottles as rocket part.
  • The rocket cars do not have to have wheels.
  • Entrants must pressurize their own water rocket cars.
  • Launchers may be built.
  • The distance travelled will be measured perpendicular to the starting line.
  • The competition is open to individuals and teams.
  • A team may contain maximum of three students.
  • All participants will receive a certificate.
  • The winning places will be identified and they will receive surprise presents.
